I didn't notice this webpage until now, so please excuse my tardiness. Uncle Bob was a kind gentleman, always offering a smile. I adored his calm nature and easygoing disposition. He often spoke to me about the aspirations of his youth and had an outlook on life that was often straight-forward, yet diplomatic. He adored his wife, his children, and his grandchildren. I have never heard him utter a bad word about anyone. He encouraged my father during his time of illness, and never judged a situation, or a person, simply by his/her exterior circumstances. He gave each person a chance to vent before he verbalized a reply. This was true of his brother Joe, as well. Both of them were very calming to be around. I learned a lot from Uncle Bob's wisdom, and wish him eternal peace. Circumstances disallowed me to attend his service, however, I usually like to remember people the way they were when they were living. Rest in peace, Uncle Bob. Thank you for the talks, the laughs, the cocktails, and the pasta!

Uncle Bob was such a kind and warm person. He always had a smile on his face, especially when he was speaking about his family. His love for Aunt Marie was endearing and inspiring. He was such a wonderful brother to my father, Ben. I have many great memories of them together at barbecue’s and family events. There was always a card game at every gathering with a lot of laughs. We will miss you Uncle Bob. May you Rest In Peace.

I appreciate all the times Uncle Bob came out to Oradell to celebrate birthdays with the rest of the Bongiorno clan! Fun times with lots of card games, food, and smiles! I always remember Uncle Bob's warm smile. He was always kind, patient, and gentle with everyone. Uncle Bob's dedication and love to his family, particularly my Aunt Mary, was always apparent. A true model of devotion and sacrificial love!

Uncle Bob was always so warm and caring I really appreciated him sharing a story about his father, my grandfather who was able to work in the foundry there at the Brooklyn Navy Yard during World war II that was an interesting story how he started out working outdoors in the cold at Brooklyn Naval Yard but was able to show the folks at the foundry that he knew how to work with metal since he had worked as a blacksmith previously and so he was moved inside out of the NY winters! Uncle Bob always made me feel good when I saw him and was always complementary and caring, a wonderful man, Uncle Bob will certainly be missed.

I will always cherish the time I was able to spend with my great uncle Bob and aunt Mary on my trips to New York as a graduate student. For his deep love and devotion for his wife and family, I saw Bob as a role model, as someone who understood what was really important. He love for his wife was inspiring! I loved taking tours of his garden, getting pool lessons in the basement, and listening to Bob and Mary's many fond memories of my grandparents. He was such a kind, sincere, and loving person. I was lucky to know him.

I have so many fun and wonderful memories with my grandpa (and grandma). Christmas over at their apartment when I was really little, pushing grandpa off the bed with grandma (Falyn and I thought this was the FUNNIEST thing), holidays we got to spend together in NY and SC, card games around the table, all the delicious treats they would pack and bring to our house, and Grandpa always pointing out how much I like to eat (it made us laugh so much, yes Grandpa I do have a fierce appetite!!!). My grandpa was the sweetest man in the world, a devoted Christian, the best husband to my grandma, a wonderful dad to my mom and aunt, and a proud grandfather. I miss you so much, and I look forward to putting together my garden in the backyard (with lots of tomatoes) in your honor. I love you always!

Dad,
I have so many wonderful memories of having you as my Dad. I think about watching Lost In Space with you as a child. Waking up in the morning to smell of you cooking onions and eggs. At Christmas, we would set up the tree and the Lionel trains together, and you always made the most delicious antipasto.
Being scared to make my first jump off a diving board, you patiently waited in the deep end for me. I made the sign of the cross and jumped the 12 inches into the water knowing you would save me.
We got Montezuma's revenge in Mexico together (okay maybe not such a good memory). Rode horses at Dude ranches. Fished a lot. Practiced karate together in the basement. We listened to music and you drummed on anything you could with your drumsticks, while I played an air guitar.
I will never forget your warm smile, big hugs, the many times, especially lately, that we held hands, and how we always said "I love you" every time we ended a phone call or parted.
I will forever love you,
Give Mom a hug,
Love,
Laurie

Dearest Uncle Bob
I danced at your wedding and when Rose and Jack passed away I cried in your arms.
We celebrated life and gardens and grandchildren from Sheepshead Bay to Dunedin. You loved my parents as they loved you and those roots will connected us forever. I will always love you!
Your nephew

We will never forget the love and light Grandpa shared endlessly with us all. He carried the most gentle soul and I feel blessed that he was my best friend. His devotion to his wife and his family was second to none. He will be missed so dearly and kept in our hearts forever. Give grandma a kiss for me.

Dad was a kind soul and wanted to help others. He would get donation mail and always send them something. I remember when I wanted to build my first deck, that they drove in that morning to rural Pennsylvania and he set the alarm off on his car. Caren and I still sleeping looked at each other and said “my parents are here”. Always there to help and make you laugh. He is missed and will be remembered.
Thanks for all you have done for me dad.

Bob always treated me like a son and he became my “dad” too. I remember what a great pool player he was. We would play 9 ball in his basement and never let me win! I tried to talk trash but he would then sink 6 in a row. He was selfless in his love and dedication to his wife.
Great times with great people. I miss you already dad. Give Marie a hug for me.

One of my favorite memories of my grandpa is from when he and my grandma would come visit. Each morning he would pretend to still be asleep and my grandma would have my sister and I roll him off the bed to “wake him up”. He played along with us every time and we thought it was the funniest thing to wake him up this way! My sweet grandpa demonstrated a beautiful depiction of love to my grandma. The way he loved and served her is something I hope to emulate in my life. Grandpa, we miss you so much. We know you’re with grandma now planting the most beautiful garden. Love you.

The memory I would like to share of my grandpa is his unwavering patience and love towards his wife. He was...in a word, admirable, and made me want to find that in myself. He would give my grandma his jacket even though he was cold too, or would make sure she ate her breakfast while he let his sit and get cold...even though he loved waking up for breakfast. His devotion was something special that people would notice even if only knowing him just one day. To quote from Rupi Kaur - “I am sorry this world could not keep you safe. I hope your journey home is a soft and peaceful one.” I love you and miss you every day grandpa. Thank you for the 26 years of love, laughs, and wisdom. Although we will miss you here, I know grandma is thrilled to see you and some day we will too.

I have so many wonderful memories of my father! Some earlier memories I have are: Dad teaching me to swim in the Atlantic ocean with large, wicked waves always looming in the background at Riis Park Beach in Brooklyn. Dad would fearlessly dive into the crest of the waves and then wipe the salt from his eyes as he slowly emerged from under water.
Dad also taught me how to fish with bamboo poles at Canarsie Pier. We would bait the hook with frozen spearing and fish for snappers with a bobber (float). I still like fishing to this day!
Dad always had fish tanks! He liked to raise guppies and we would be amazed to watch the baby guppies being born, gently falling from the mother guppy’s belly, then quickly hiding so they wouldn’t be eaten! Other memories include Dad bringing us sleigh-riding on the steep, snowy hills at Prospect Park, and dad’s amazing green thumb, growing a towering vegetable garden complete with tomatoes, monstrous zucchinis on the vines, peppers, eggplants, loads and loads of basil for pesto sauce, and a variety of flowers including marigolds to keep the bug population down.
Dad was a pool shark and would wipe the table clean before another player had a turn!
Later in life, dad loved being with his 5 grandchildren, taking us to Rockerfellar Center or a broadway play in Manhattan, and his crazy-scary driving!
But his greatest legacy which was apparent to absolutely anyone was his selfless dedication and devotion to my mother as she declined over a 5-year span with Alzheimers and descended into the mental prison of dementia.
Dad, you fought to the end with all your many health issues, and while it hurts so bad to see you go, we are happy you are at peace in paradise with mom. Thank you for your love and all the beautiful memories! Looking forward to seeing you again some day <3
