Ann and Edward Grohe

Obituary of Ann and Edward Grohe

Ann M. Grohe, 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 21, 2020 in her Seminole, Florida home and her devoted husband Edward J Grohe, Jr. followed her on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, lovingly on Ann’s birthday.  As he told his children, “I no longer want to live without the love of my life.” Now they are together again and at peace forever with our Lord.

Ann was born in Orange, New Jersey to James and Mary Reilly on January 6, 1927.  Ed was born in Montclair, New Jersey to Edward Sr. and Florence Grohe on July 29, 1927.  They married on May 17, 1952 in Montclair, New Jersey. Ready to have fun and enjoy the “good life”, they retired to Seminole, Florida in 1985.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents, James and Mary (Love) Reilly and two brothers, George Reilly and Father James Reilly.  Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sr. and Florence Grohe.

Ann and Ed are survived by sons Stephen J Grohe (Brenda) of Largo, Florida and Edward J Grohe III (Joan) of Largo, Florida; daughter Janice (John);  Ann’s sister Ruthe F Reilly of Seminole, Florida;  Grandchildren – Grayson and Anna  (Josh).  Extended family includes nieces Betsy Flynn, Mary Ann Reilly, and Georgette Timoney.

Residents of Florida for the past 35 years, Ann enjoyed dancing, music, travel, and her lovely home (cooking, cleaning and gardening).  Ed was all about fishing in his legendary boat the Gin ‘n’ Tonic, investing on his computer in his office, and his never ending ”job jars” for himself and his closest family and friends. Ann and Ed were the inspiration of love and laughter for each other for 68 years and were role models for everyone in their life. Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Seminole was blessed to have them as 35-year parishioners.  Close family friends including the Baumgart, Grebe, and Seibert families were extra special to Ann and Ed for many years.

The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Firstlight Home Care caregivers Mariana, Rachael, and Sahar for their empathy and support. Special thanks extended to the Suncoast Hospice care team for their compassionate assistance and support.
