Dear Tim,
I learned of Jared's passing from my Aunt Marion this morning. She fondly recalls meeting Jared as and engaging and adorable 10 year old boy, full of excitement and wonder. Thank you for posting the moving video of both the good times and the struggles. In addition to the beautiful obituary it gave me a sense of your deep love for each other and what joy Jared brought to the world. I am so heartsick for you and Denise in your loss and am hoping that our collective prayers and well wishes provide even a small measure of comfort.

I am so deeply saddened by Jared’s passing. I’ll always remember how much fun I had babysitting him – Jared was so bright, curious, creative, and quick to laugh. He absolutely lit up when talking about comic books, movies, and spending time with his family. He was just a delight to be around. I also remember how exceptionally thoughtful he was. For example, one day Jared introduced me to “iCarly” and I commented that I thought it was funny. The next time I was over, Jared had taped the entire season in case I was bored after he went to bed. He was always doing small things like that to make others happy. I am extremely grateful to have known him. Tim and Denise, I can’t imagine how especially difficult this loss must be for you. I hope that you are able to find some comfort in your memories of Jared and in the knowledge that he had such a positive impact on so many people.

Tim and Denise, I'm so very sorry for the loss of your son. It seems like only yesterday Denise and I were comparing baby bumps at the county picnic. As a baby, Jared had the most beautiful smile and those curls...they were just too cute! I have no doubt that he grew up to be a wonderful mix of both of you but also a special young man in his own right. I'm so sorry that he was gone from our world much too soon.

Recipe for a Strong Family Love
In 1999 God blessed Jared with 2 wonderful parents who would love him unconditionally. God only knew of one set of special parents that would give the true family love that Jared would need and that’s Tim and Denise Closterman.
Parents that were there for Jared 24 hours, through his ups and downs.
Parents that cheered with family laughter and joyous fun and who held each other tightly through painful times and flowing tears of sadness.
Parents that challenged the “NOs” and “HE CAN’Ts”; but pushed “where there is a will for our Jared, there is a way”.
Parents who shielded Jared from any obstacles; but made entrances much easier to enter and enjoyable.
I’m a witness. The stories were shared daily of how powerful their love for each other keeps them going every day. Tim, Denise, and Jared; All Three = 1 Strong Family Love. How their love beats all the odds. How as every second goes by, love remains in front and back of their footsteps.
Tim and Denise, Jared completed the Recipe for a Strong Family Love. Jared learned love through you all. He learned the true meaning of a father’s and mother’s love. He learned the meaning of Family. In a way, it gave you a clearer definition how powerful and strong love is and how far it can go… THAT’S FOREVER!
Remember, Jared has earned his heavenly white wings flying free with no pain just joy and happiness. Knowing him, he’s probably trying to get a cast in heaven to re-make the movie Moses. But he’s having a hard time getting the copy rights approval from Moses himself. But Jared is a Closterman and where there is a will, there is a way.
Therefore, may the daily memories from the time Jared was born, to the time that he was given his wings stay embedded in your heart that the true Recipe for A Strong Family Love, Was, and Always Will Be Jared.

Denise & Tim.....I don't have words that can explain or express the loss and sadness that we feel for your family. There are no words. There are prayers of strength and comfort flowing your way that can bring you a feeling of courage & hope that the pain will ease and the memories of joy, laughter and happiness will fill the hole that you have in your hearts. I told Josh this morning of Jared's passing and he is heartbroken. He is sad that they didn't lean on each other more often and now it's too late. You see, he just lost another IDF friend last month so this is almost more than he can process. I told him that he now has to fight the fight for the friends that he has lost and to make every accomplishment in the memory of his friends.....he is broken but agreed and said he would do his best to make Jared & Tera proud of him, and do it in their memories. Gerald found a picture of Josh & Jared when you guys met us at The Living Room in Dunedin. It is attached....
We are here for you, whatever we can do, whatever you need....we are here. I am so sorry I didn't know his journey took another turn but please know that although our hearts are broken we are forever grateful for the time we spent with Jared.
YOU ARE THE BEST PARENTS IN THE WORLD!!! Jared was a true & genuine soul because of YOU GUYS! God blesses us with children and although our journeys have been hard you got to experience the miracle and love of Jared Douglas!!! No one else can say that!

I'll always remember Jared as a little kid, coming into the office at Communications with his Dad. One time he was working on a video project, and I am honored to have been interviewed by him. He had a creative spirit and impressed my own children with the comics that he wrote at such a young age. As he grew, I was always impressed by the closest of the family, how he would join his Dad at the Armed Forces Military Museum, with a love of country. I will always remember him as a real hero, sharing a life with heroic and optimistic parents, who used every minute to keep Jared well and happy. Don and I were so sorry to hear about Jared. He was such a great person and we so enjoyed the times we were together. Usually it was to see a movie that he always loved. Denise and Tim, Marlene and Steve, we will always remember the times we shared with Jared as our Uncle Sam for American/Canadian days and as neighbors we got to see the costume grandma bought even before he did, and when he outgrew the first one, there was another.
Jared's love of comic books reminded us all of simpler times, when we all had our Super Heroes. He so wanted to be a part of the move industry, but that was not meant to be.
A teacher once told me, "Life is like a pathway, of newly fallen snow. Be careful how you tread it, for every step will show", and to this end Jared left a remarkable footprint of a young man, admired and loved by so many.

Jared was such an old soul that when he danced and performed it took me back to a time when I wasn't even alive. Always had a smile on his face and I always knew he was surrounded by so much love. Thank you Jared for always putting a smile on my face and being the fighter and young gentleman you were.

Jared was definitely a bright light for all who had the privilege to know him. An amazing young man who showed so much courage and still had a smile for those around him. I will always remember the times we got to share with him. He was always willing to listen and I believe he was always learning something from those around him, it’s just who he was. I still remember the very first time Denise and I introduced our boys to one another, my son was 7 months old and I flew to Fl. To surprise Denise. Watching Jared’s Nana holding Jared and Daniel dancing around the living room. Jared will live in my heart always. My thoughts, love and prayers are with you.
