Obituary of Raymond Fildes
Raymond Thomas Fildes, 64, of Largo, FL passed away surrounded by his loving family March 8, 2021. Born in Bridgeport, CT, Ray was raised in Fairfield. Ray moved to the area almost 40 years ago, where his love for the water and outdoors grew quickly. It was here he met the love of his life, Liz. Throughout this time, and much of his earlier life, Ray (also known to his niece and nephews as Rick) enjoyed playing softball and was a part of the Caladesi softball team, as well as several local bar sponsored teams.
Ray was preceded in passing by his mother, Kathryn Cotter, and his brother, Patrick Fildes. He is survived by his loving wife, Liz Townsend; his sister, Meg (Chris) Bennett; nephews Patrick and John Bennett; niece, Caitlin Bennett; and his beloved pugs, Dollie, Winston, and Lucius (Loosh).
One of Rick’s greatest passions in life was his fishing. He absolutely loved spending time on the water and in the sun, and would spend his time outdoors any chance he’d get. He also loved spending time with his family, and catching up on all of his favorite sports.
Though there is no service scheduled at this time, please consider making a memorial donation in Ray’s name to Suncoast Hospice Care Center.
