Thomas Bales

Obituary of Thomas A Bales

Bales, Thomas A. (“Tom”), 85, of St. Petersburg completed his journey to heaven on March 10, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family.  Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was an Airforce Veteran during the Korean War, stationed in Bitburg, Germany.  He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Evelyn R. Bales (Schmidt); his sons Thomas (Andrea), Douglas (Denise), Michael (Sharon), and Jeffrey; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and loving friends.  Tom was many things to many people including a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend, and mentor.   He was an Airforce jet engine mechanic, a delivery driver, and a real estate broker by profession. He was proud to be a devote Catholic and found great strength from his relationship with God.  Tom loved to fish, especially with his sons, loved to cruise, and enjoyed any event that involved his family.  He had a great sense of humor that was reflected in his many stories and the constant jokes he would tell.  He was tough when needed and kind always; a truly unique person that we will all miss greatly.  Tom would tell you that his greatest accomplishment was his family and the many extended members, all of whom made him very proud.  A private memorial will be held at the Bay Pines National Cemetery.  A Celebration of Life will be held in the future for all friends and family to attend.   In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice Foundation at www.suncoasthospicefoundation.org/circle-of-caring-donation .
