Hello again, By sheer coincidence this morning, I am working on a picture family tree to go along with my hundreds of pages of news articles about the Rooneys. I realized that it has been a 2 year anniversary of your mother's passing, please accept my condolences again. I watched the video again, what a wonderful life she had. I am sure her early years were challenging, they were for everyone. Seems that nobody had it easy.
I have done so much more research the past two years. Getting to know the Rooneys from Dennis and Annie Rooney down the line has truly been fun and rewarding. I was in Welcome MN last month, (thank goodness, we went in June and not July) and there in Martin County in May of 2022. I wished I had the address where the Lidke family lived but I didn't. In our visit in 2022, we were at the St. Luke's Cemetery the day before Mother's Day, cleaning up the stones and saying little prayers for them all. A young woman had come to her mother's grave to lay flowers for her, which was close by but the gravestone said Theresa Loe on it. She came over and asked "are you Rooneys? I have never seen anyone here before." We said yes, well her grandmother was a Rooney! She called her Aunt Mary, they took us to the homestead which is still in their family. We went by Dennis and Annie's old homestead, which was sold when Dennis died. That property is beautiful with the creek which runs thru it.
I remember telling you how I went to your parent's wedding and how special that was to me. I have had met other relatives in the past couple of years and allowed to take copies of their photos. I need to correct my little videos, I realize now my errors about the names. Of course everyone has to share names which doesn't help. I now have a copy of the genealogy that Maureen Rooney started, apparently her father Gerald had also done some. She has little stories about the generations.
It is astounding how the Rooneys always lived where there were so many newspapers and how often they contacted the office to put tidbits in about their lives. I have several hundred pages of news articles. There are still some mysteries that I have not figured out and probably won't. It would be so nice, if you contact me at least once, tell me some stories and maybe send me a picture or two. I will share what I have also. Picture A is Dennis Rooney Senior, it is a photo copy that Sister Maureen Rooney (Gerald/George Rooney's daughter) gave her sister Patricia. Picture B is my grandmother Catherine Rooney Moneto, Marcella Dowgin, her husband Thomas, "Jimmy" Moneto and my dad Delmar Joseph Rooney looking so painfully shy it practically breaks my heart. All of us girls were very shy as children. I would love to talk to you just once and share some more pictures. The last thing we know about our dad is he was living in Tampa when Aunt Marcella died in 87. I wonder if any of you saw him or knew he was there. He did love Florida, my sister Rhonda was born in Miami and Diana was born in Lakeland. I hope all is well. Joline Rooney Albaugh, Tucson Arizona joline@dbelltech.com 520-975-7021 p.s. I may have told you but Aunt Beatrice helped deliver my sister Catherine when my mom decided to just have her at home. Catherine is also a nurse practitioner, she's retired now.
