Barbara Paralta

Obituary of Barbara A. Paralta

Barbara A. Paralta, 77, of Seminole Florida peacefully passed to the loving arms of our Lord while surrounded by her adoring family on September 28, 2021 after her courageous battle with cancer.

Barbara was born in Great Barrington, Massachusetts on January 30, 1944. Daughter of Albert and Sophie Wetmore. She attended Searles High School where she excelled at her studies and proudly performed with the cheerleaders, majorettes and drill team. Upon graduating in 1961 she found work as a switchboard operator at the New England Telephone Company until she married her first husband, William Case, with whom she had three children. After being a homemaker, she returned to the work force. Wanting to remain close to her children, she took a job with the Berkshire Hills Regional School District at the former Housatonic Elementary School for more than 5 years serving as a lunch lady and then a secretary in the main office. She then worked as an Office Manager for Dr. Stephen Moore, an ophthalmologist in Great Barrington for more than 17 years.

In 1990, Barbara married Mario Paralta and they built a beautiful home together in Housatonic, MA where they lived until 1997 when they decided to relocate to Seminole, Florida. Once settled in her new home, she found employment at Morton Plant Mease/Bay Care Health Systems in the private care sector as well as the corporate office until her retirement. Barbara loved surrounding herself with family and relaxing with her husband, living each day to the fullest. Undoubtedly, she had a green thumb as her flower gardens flourished with beautiful colors, singing birds and colorful butterflies. Indoors, she liked to pass the time knitting creative and unique ensembles for her grandkids stuffed animals along with many blankets, sweaters, scarfs, hats, and booties for her entire family. She also enjoyed ceramics, cooking confections, and all things Christmas including her legendary Lemax holiday house displays.

Barbara is survived by her devoted husband of 31 years, Mario Paralta of Seminole, Florida; her affectionate sister Sandra Gilmore (Michael); her three loving children; a er children her son: Michael Case (Jennie) of Yorktown VA; and two daughters: Judi Case Gordan (Andrew) of Madeira Beach, FL and Kelly Case VonBraunsberg (Tom) of Tampa, FL; her two stepdaughters; Nancy Paralta Johnson (Mark) of Fall River, MA and Diane Paralta Matheus (David) of Taunton, MA; nine grandchildren: Evan and Aubrey Case; Katherine, Kristina, and Carolyn VonBraunsberg; Emma and Mya Johnson; Neely and David Matheus.
