Obituary of Clara Barton Moore Jenkins

Clara Barton Moore Jenkins was born July 5, 1921 in Sturgeon,

Kentucky. Clara’s mother named her after the Civil War nurse 

Clara Barton, hoping she would become a nurse. Clara had one

older sister and 4 younger brothers.

    She graduated from high school, went to business college and 

went to work at Champion Paper.

    She married Oliver Franklin Jenkins on September 12, 1945. 

They had four daughters, Jennifer, Alana, Sandra and Sally. Clara

has 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Clara and Oliver 

moved to Seminole, Florida in 1988 after Oliver retired from truck 

driving. 

    Clara was married to Oliver for 54 years before he passed away

in November 1999. She moved to Grand Villa, previously called

Emeritus, in March of 2011. Clara loved the Lord, her family, 

friends, and was loved, admired and respected by all who knew her.

In the last couple years she survived a bad case of shingles, a broken 

hip, and covid. She passed away at Grand Villa on March 17, 2022.
 

Clara's memorial service will be Saturday, March 26, 2022 at 10am at E. James Reese Funeral Home
