John Clark

Obituary of John Clark

John Frederick Clark, age 61, passed away peacefully at home in St. Petersburg, Florida on Wednesday, September 7. John was born in New York City on February 26,1961. He spent most of his life in West Keansburg, Hazlet Township, New Jersey, before moving to Boynton Beach, Florida in 2003, ultimately settling in the Clearwater/St. Petersburg area. It was in St. Petersburg that John found the friends that became family, providing him with fellowship, support and love. John was predeceased by his mother Dorothy Moynihan Clark Duffy, his maternal grandparents Edith and Frederick Moynihan and his favorite uncle, James Dougherty. He is survived by his son, Andrew Clark, sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Richard LaScala, brother Lawrence Clark, niece Kathryn LaScala Theryoung and her husband Robert, nephew Matthew LaScala and grandnieces Colette and Quinn Theryoung; maternal aunt Edith Dougherty and cousin James Dougherty. John is also survived by the friends who became family in St Petersburg, especially Donna and Bob Romano and their sons Troy and Daniel, David Ryan, and special friend Sharon Behr Wickham of Berwick, Pennsylvania. John's family is forever indebted to them for the love and care shown to him over the years. John marched to his own drums. He could be challenging, but he loved deeply and never forgot where he came from. He had a wicked sense of humor and you could count on lots of good laughs when you were in his company. He used many of his life experiences to try to help others who had similar stories to his own. He loved the New York Yankees, the New York Giants and preparing big meals for his friends on the holidays. He tried to start his days off positively, spending many early mornings at John's Pass with Bob where they would pray their daily devotions. We will miss his visits to New Jersey, where he mostly complained about the cold, but enjoyed eating the delicious meals prepared by his brother-in-law and watching his favorite teams on the outside television, wrapped in blankets and drinking coffee by the gallon. In John's memory, we ask that you do something positive today. Share a smile with a stranger, hold the door for someone, do a good deed. Spread love. Spread joy. Arrangements will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
