Obituary of Thomas J Brooks

Brooks, Thomas J. (Tom) 77 of Seminole, Florida passed away on February 4, 2023, in Dunedin Florida. Tom was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on June 15, 1945. His family moved to Detroit where he attended Holy Redeemer School. He entered the seminary and was educated within the Redemptorist Order of Catholic priests, ordained in 1972 and was part of that order for many years. He earned multiple postgraduate degrees and was especially proud of studying Adlerian Psychology and receiving a master's degree. After his time with the Redemptorists, he worked for many years within the Florida prison system as a psychologist. It was while working there he met fellow psychologist Nancy who he later married. He also did work as a married Catholic priest and was active with polio victims' groups. Tom was preceded in death by his wife Nancy, his parents Philip A. and Cecelia M., his sister Mary Catherine (Kitty), his brothers Philip and James, his niece Margaret (Peggy), Peggy’s husband Pat Higdon, sister-in-law Mary Lou and brother-in-law James Campbell Survivors include his brothers Frank (Nancy), Charles (Amy) and Dan (Cathey), Sister-in-law Margery, nieces, and nephews Kathy (Obie), Mike, Danny (Cathy), Patrick (Stephanie), Cissy, Anne, Tim (Andy), Keith (Lisha), Colin (Erin), Tony (Ana), Chris (Jennie), Eric, Ryan (Megan), and Kevin (Beth). Great nephews and nieces Nina, Jeff, Peter, Patrick, James, Megan, Ellen, Aidan, Virginia, Talon, Aiden, Lina Rose, Noah, Audrey, Lauren, Avery, and Sean. A memorial service will be held on March 12, 2023 from 2:00pm – 5:00pm at Mainlands Club House Unit 1, 9650 Mainlands Blvd., Pinellas Park, Florida 33782 Tom’s ashes will be spread off Sunset Beach, Treasure Island, Florida.
