Obituary of Rosalie K. Smith

Rosalie Kay Smith was 85 Years, 4 months of age when she entered into glory peacefully and with grace on Friday, November 5, 2010 at Woodside Hospice, Pinellas Park, Florida. She was preceded in death on Aug 18, 2010, by her beloved husband, Wayne Smith. Born on June 23, 1925, to Lawrence and 'Bessie' Thompson, She was one of six children. Rosie was a graduate of Lafayette High School and after marriage began raising her family. During that time Rosie started her own business selling Avon to help support the family. After her children were all of school age, she worked at Greenfield Banking Company in the Trust Department, then on to Farm Bureau Coop in Indianapolis as Auto Fleet Coordinator. Rosalie retired in the early 1980's and moved to Treasure Island, Florida with her husband Wayne. During retirement, Rosie volunteered at All Children's Hospital and was honored to be photographed for the front cover of their Marketing Campaign Brochure. She was also a volunteer at Largo Medical Center. She was Christian and a faithful servant of the Lord and was always present to offer a compassionate ear and a friendly hand to all. She loved her greater human family and professed that love through her words and actions. She was a valued member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and was active in their choir for many years. Rosalie is survived by her sister, Delores Cavanaugh of Lafayette, IN, her children: Ellen Streich of St. Petersburg, FL; David Smith of Valparaiso, IN; Leslie Smith of Anderson, IN: Doug Smith of Seminole, FL and Becky Pierson of Seminole, FL; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. As the rock of her very diverse family, she will be forever loved and missed. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, Nov 18th, 2010 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1199 Highland Avenue, Largo, FL. Gathering will be from 4-5pm and the service will be at 5pm. Reception following at Seminole Elks, 10717 Seminole Blvd., Seminole, FL. Monetary donations should be directed to St. Paul United Methodist Sanctuary Choir. Flowers are also welcomed and will be shared with the St. Paul's hospital Ministry program.
