Obituary of Joan R. Ahlers

Obituary - Joan R. Ahlers Joan R. Ahlers, passed away on Friday, November 4, 2016 at Suncoast Hospice Facility in Florida. Joan was born on March 17, 1927 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Joseph and Edith Determan. She graduated from Regina High School in Cincinnati, Ohio and went on to earn her nursing degree from Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Cincinnati. Joan was a registered nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in both Cincinnati and Dayton. She retired from nursing while at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton as an administrator in orthopedic nursing. She enjoyed traveling and did so extensively throughout the world. Her hobbies included basket weaving, bike riding, skiing, reading books, taking Bible classes, puzzling and card playing. She was an excellent seamstress, knitter and there wasn't a craft she didn't enjoy. She was an active resident of Lake Seminole Square for 10 years. The special joys of her life were her three children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her laugh and love of life characterized her. She was always ready to help anyone whenever needed. She was a devoted mother and friend. Joan's memory will be cherished by her family, Karen Peggs(husband Larry), John H. McKewen(wife Jayne Ann), Molly Disken(husband Bill) and her 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, cousins, and friends. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Seminole.
