Obituary of Kenneth P. Markgraf

Kenneth P Markgraf passed away on November 17, 2016 at Suncoast Hospice in Pinellas Park. Kenneth was born on November 18th, 1935 in South Ozone Park, Queens NY. He Graduated from Far Rockaway H.S. in June 1953 and enlisted in the Army in 1954 serving in the 86th Infantry stationed in Germany. He was Honorably discharged in 1956. He then worked for Gibbs and Cox's at the Brooklyn Naval Yard as a draftsman. It was during this time he met Geraldine Hayes who he married at St. Clare's R.C. Church on August 8th, 1959. In 1963 he was accepted to the New York Fire Department where he retired as Battalion Chief in 1989. In 1980 he enlisted in U.S. Naval Reserves (Floyd Bennett Field, NY) where he retired as a Chief Petty Officer in charge of Damage Control and Firefighting in 1995. Kenneth also holds two college degrees: Associate of Science in Fire Science from New York Community College (1973), and a Bachelor of Science in Fire Science from John Jay College of Criminal Justice (1976). Kenneth's wife Geraldine, of 55 years, passed away at the age of 74 on June 30th, 2014. Kenneth is now survived by his children, Donna, Kurt and his wife Margaret , as well as Susan and her husband John, also his seven grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be held for Kenneth at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church on November 21, 2016 at 10:00am with Committal at Bay Pines National Cemetery at a later date.
