Obituary of Carol S. Hager

Carol S. Hager (born: Carol Barbra Stiteler) passed away peacefully in her sleep at home in Seminole, FL, on January 12, 2017 at the young age of 76. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years Robert "Bob" J. Hager.; her son Richard "Tom" T. Peix.; her son Brian J. Hager. Carol was born November 4th, 1940 in Philadelphia, PA. The daughter of Robert Stiteler and Ruth Heinenman. She spent much of teenage life in, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she attended public school and graduated from Overbrook High School in 1958. She met and married Bob in Cape St. Claire, MD in 1971. They moved to Seminole, Florida in 1972 until present, enjoying the everyday life only others can dream of but have to go vacation to enjoy. Carol, owner of Surety Casualty Insurance, served the area's insurance needs for almost 50 years. She enjoyed her lengthy career until her retiring in 2015 to spend time with her husband Bob and Andy, her Cairn terrier. Throughout her life, Carol was known for her passion for adopting rescued Cairn terriers. In addition to her love of dogs, Carol delighted in feeding the neighborhood birds and family swans she hosted in the back yard of her home. Carol loved all animals, including the stuff variety, with an affinity for collecting unique Steiff teddy bears. During her life, Carol loved to travel and vacation with her family, often bringing home a teddy bear or two and occasionally a Cairn terrier, adopted from a rescue. Carol, with her husband Bob, was involved with several charities including Pinellas Village, Shriners, and Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Carol supported the Cairn terrier dog rescue and volunteered in housing and relocating homeless dogs. One of Carol and Bob's favorite spots to vacation together is Homosassa, FL, and volunteered as a family at the Homosassa Civic Club's Annual Seafood Festival for over 25 years. They were active members in the community in Homosassa as they were in Seminole. In recent years, Carol's earthly body gave her troubles but the family rejoices in the perfection of her heavenly body. A celebration of Carol's life will be announced by the family in days to come. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local humane Society in honor of Carol and her loving care of animal.
