Obituary of Irene Laychak Reda

REDA, Irene (Laychak) 95 passed away peacefully March 25, 2018 at Bon Secours Place, an assisted living facility in St Petersburg FL. Irene was born in Norwalk, CT, September 15, 1922 to the late Ethel and Steve Laychak. She attended Norwalk public schools and was a graduate of Norwalk High School class of 1940, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. Upon graduation Irene worked in the union office of The International Lady Garment Workers local as a bookkeeper. She then went to work for many years for the Norwalk Public School System where she retired from in 1980 as the Board of Educations' staff insurance consultant and administrator. Irene was also very active in many local charities and was a longtime member and former president of the Norwalk Quota Club. Upon her retirement Irene and her husband, Ralph moved to Four Seasons Estates in Largo, FL. Mrs. Reda was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Reda; a sister, Ruth Laychak and her brother Steve Laychak. Irene is survived by her son, Mark (Louise) Reda, Tampa FL, along with her two grandchildren who she treasured, Candice (Eugene) Rodriquez and Jaclyn (Eric) Grzbowski, both of Tampa, along with four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Irene was a friend to the many people that knew her, she had lightheartedness and laughter that will be missed by all. She treated everyone with respect and had a quiet, gentle way about her. A memorial service will be held Friday April 6 at 10 am in the chapel at Bon Secours Place, St Petersburg. Burial will be at a later date at St John's Cemetery, Norwalk, CT. Her family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her honor to Bon Secours Place at St Petersburg, 10401 N. Roosevelt Blvd. St Petersburg, FL 33716.
