Obituary of Earl F. Kohler

Kohler, Earl F. Ret. Lt. Col., US Army 93, of St. Petersburg, died Monday, January 26, 2009, at Eagle Lake Rehab & Care Center. Born in Kingston, PA, he came here in 1956 from Mt. Vernon, NY. He graduated from Columbia University with a Master's Degree. He retired from the United States Army in 1975 as Lt. Col. He fought in the Pacific Theatre during WWII as an Intelligence Officer. He also served in Korea and Vietnam. Earl was a Political Science professor at SPJC for 30 + years, retiring at the age of 80. He was of the Protestant faith. He was preceded in death by his wife: Elsie Kohler and parents: William & Lavinia Kohler nee Harrison. He is survived by daughters: Ingrid Kohler, St. Petersburg, FL and Ruth Ann Harper, St. Pete Beach, FL; stepdaughters: Sandra Price, St. Petersburg, FL, Carol Belanger, St. Petersburg, FL; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. There will be a graveside service at Woodlawn Memory Gardens on Friday, January 30th at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Earl's name to The Hospice of the The Florida Suncoast, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760.
