Obituary of Anabel H. Soper

SOPER, Anabel Ann 95, died peacefully on January 22, 2010 at the Seminole Nursing Pavilion. She was born in Macomb, IL and came to St. Petersburg in 1949. For five years she worked for Claude Melton's Tax Service on St. Pete Beach, then as a coordinator of Veteran's Benefits at St. Petersburg Jr. College for 15 years. While there, she completed her associate degree with honors. She and her husband Stan were avid campers and together contributed over 8, 000 volunteer hours to Lake Manatee and other state parks while being hosts and nature walk interpreters. They also delighted in living simply in order to contribute to their church and other charities. Ann's brother Robert, son David, and Husband D. Stanley preceded her in death. Survivors include a sister Mildred Butler of Astoria, IL; a daughter Rev. Jane Gray of Rockville, MD; Two granddaughters Jeanne Quinn of Boulder, CO & Ann Quinn of Catonsville, MD; 2 great grandchildren Paul & Rose Ocone of Catonsville, MD plus many extended family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Seminole United Methodist Church, 5400 Seminole Blvd, Seminole, FL 33772 where Ann was an active member for 50 years or to a charity of one's choice. A Service will be held at Seminole United Methodist on Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 11:00am. A reception and buffet lunch will follow. Interment will be at Seminole Cemetery after the reception.
