Beverly Buckner

Obituary of Beverly Buckner

Beverly Barlow Buckner, age 85, of Clearwater passed away at home with her family on December 1st, 2019.  Bev was born on March 28th, 1934 at home in Blue Island Illinois, to Alice and Westley Barlow.  She was preceded by her husband of nearly 61 years, Buck, her sister Barbara, her daughter Liz, and her granddaughter Emily. She is survived by her son Randy and his wife Jennifer, her son Greg and his wife Julie, her many grandchildren and great grandchildren, her brother & sister in-laws Billy, Sharon, Tommy and Dee, and her Maine Coon cat, Sadie.

Bev was a graduate of Thornton Township High School and started out as an accountant for Gilbert and Bennett, a fence manufacturing company in Illinois. After she retired from there, she held various accounting positions at other firms, and she eventually moved to St. Petersburg and worked part-time at Allied Insurance Company for many years.

Bev was a strong, independent woman, and probably one of the most pleasant women you’d ever meet. She was very close to her family, and her children have all felt very fortunate to have had such a close relationship with her; she was not only a great mother, but also a great friend. They loved to “hang-out” together and vacationed together often.

Bev enjoyed walks on the beach, country music, jigsaw puzzles, Skip-bo and Scrabble with her family, sewing for her granddaughters, and most recently she really enjoyed playing bridge with her friends at the bridge club.

One of Bev’s favorite interests was real estate. She has always treasured beautiful landscapes, especially mountains and big oak trees, and she moved a lot throughout the years to change-up the scenery she enjoyed most. She took great pride in establishing her new homes, and re-modeling and decorating them. She always lit up as she talked about them, especially Olympia Fields in Illinois. Earlier this year, she was extremely happy to have bought a wonderful home with her son, Randy and his wife Jennifer, in Clearwater where she had her own section of the house to enjoy.

Bev was a wonderful person, and always a true pleasure to be around. She will be forever loved, remembered, and missed by her family and friends.
