Obituary of Arthur Allen Hoover
Hoover, Arthur Allen, 90, of Seminole, died Sunday, June 20, 2010. He is a St. Petersburg native and a graduate of St. Petersburg High School. His family is one of the founding families of St. Petersburg and his grandmother, Julia Johnson is named in St. Petersburg's Pioneer Park. Arthur is a retired Army Major and served in WW II with the 204th field artillery battalion in General Patton's third army. He fought in Normandy, Northern France, Rineland & Central Europe campaigns. He was honored with 4 battle stars and a bronze star. He was a member of the "Over the Hill Gang" in St. Petersburg and the American Legion. Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Evelyn B. Hoover; his daughter & son-in-law, Sharon H. & John K. Nursey of Orlando; his sister, Marguerite Condes of Melbourne, FL; and his grandchildren, Stephanie E. & John Allen Nursey of Orlando. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Mary Bachmann Hoover. Visitation is 5-7pm Thursday at Reese Funeral Home, 6767 Seminole Blvd. Service with military honors is 1 PM Friday at Memorial Park Cemetery.
