Obituary of Shirley Harley Wilson

Wilson, Shirley H. 84, of Largo, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2010. She was born in Springfield, SC. She was a published poet and wrote Shirl's Pearls in the Gulfport Gabber. She was Baptist and a faithful servant of the Lord and was always present to offer a compassionate ear and a friendly hand to all. She loved her greater human family and professed that love through her words and actions. Her great grandfather was a civil war officer and she would frequent family reunions always ready to tell stories regarding her proud heritage coming from one of the first settlers of South Carolina. She studied English Literature at the University of South Carolina and was an advocate for education for everyone. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph, her parents, daughter Bonnie, and three sisters and a brother. She is survived by her children Timothy Danby of Rumford, RI, Dianne Belbeisi of Jordan, Nelson Weed of Rockville, KY, and Danita Weed-Smith of Largo. A Celebration of life will be held at 4:00pm on Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at the funeral home. Reese Funeral Home (727) 391-9954
