Obituary of William A. Collins

Collins, William A., 81, of St. Petersburg, FL, formerly of Schenectady, passed away Monday, June 28 after a long battle with Alzheimer 's disease. Bill was born in Glens Falls, NY. He graduated from St. Columba's High School. With his wife and his parents, he ran Collins and Son, a grocery store in the Bellevue area. He retired from the grocery business in 1966 to pursue a career in insurance. Bill loved boating, bike riding and bowling. His favorite summer place was sitting in his boat on Sacandaga Lake soaking up the sun. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Bernadette Collins, in 2004, his parents, Arthur and Emma Collins, and his sister, Marie Martiniano. Bill is survived by his daughter, Peggy Gordon (Wymond) of St. Petersburg, FL; his granddaughter, Marisa Gordon of Angier, NC; his grandson, Bryan Gordon of Alexandria, VA; his sister, Marilyn White (Thomas) of St. Petersburg, FL; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Seminole, FL. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Clearwater, FL. In lieu of Flowers, contributions may be made to Suncoast Hospice, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760 or the Alzheimer's Association
