Obituary of Mark Daniel Laubaugh

Mark Daniel Laubaugh passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at home. Mark leaves behind his father, Terry Laubaugh of Seminole, his mother, Susan (Gary) Brelsford, of Palm Harbor, and brother, Jimmy of Homestead. He will also be missed by numerous aunts and uncles in Ohio. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Daniel and Thelma Hollywood and Garnet and Darrel Laubaugh. Mark was known for his musical talent and his love of animals. Mark was an avid fishermen who also loved mountain biking and kayaking. He adopted his current dog, Lucky, from the shelter where he worked and bought his other dog Dolly. Mark was the type of person who put the needs of others above his own. He made friends easily and people loved being around him. Mark was the perpetual student. He strove to understand the people around him, their culture, religion and history. He was an adjunct professor at St. Petersburg College. He enjoyed teaching immensely and had a goal of becoming a full time professor. Mark was born on August 8, 1979 in St. Petersburg, Florida. He spent his early years at the Blue Moon Motel which his parents owned on 4th St. Later, he split his time between his dad's house in Seminole and his mom's house in Oldsmar. As an adult, he worked at Pinellas County Animal Services for thirteen years, beginning as an Animal Care Assistant and Working up to Animal Services Program Coordinator. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Pinellas County Animal Services.
