Obituary of Lydia Luhks Bryde

Bryde, Lydia Luhks 104 years and 9 mos., entered into glory peacefully after 9 years of illness on October 23, 2010, at her residence in Woxall, PA. She was the wife of her beloved husband, the late John Martin Bryde, Sr. Born in Venspils, Latvia, January 14, 1906 to Ernest and Elizabeth Luhks, she came to America at the age of 18 months old. She was formerly a resident of Philadelphia, Pleasant Valley, Bedminster, and Silverdale, PA, and Largo, FL. Lydia graduated from West Philadelphia Girls High School, worked at Fretz Pants Factory in Bedminster, PA for a number of years, was a devout Christian and an active member in the Assembly of God Church, Quakertown, PA; First Assembly of God, Clearwater, FL; and attended the Family Worship Center in Lansdale, PA. She enjoyed growing roses, gardening, an avid reader, Word Search puzzles, a great cook, seamstress, crocheting, knitting, actively participating in games and conversation with family members and friends, always ready to greet visitors with a bright smile and loved to laugh. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Lydia is survived by her 10 children. Five sons: John, Jr (Phyllis) of Wolford, MD; Paul (Evie) of Golden, CO; James (Mildred) of St. Petersburg, FL; Richard (Marjorie) of Columbus, MS; Daniel (Gale) of Perkasie, PA; five daughters: Marion (Dr. Robert) Bogen of Nashville, TN; Ruth Phillips of Springfield, MO; Elsie Bartholomew of Perkasie, PA; Esther (George) Nickerson of Edgewater, FL; Beatrice (Pete) Bishop Damiani of Woxall, PA; 32 Grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, 3 brothers and 3 sisters and their spouses. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend her viewing on October 29, 2010 at 9:30am and funeral service at 10:00am at Reese Funeral Home, 6767 Seminole Blvd., Seminole, FL 33772. Interment will be in Serenity Gardens Memorial Park in Largo, FL. Memorial gifts may be made in her memory to ONE HOPE, 600 SW 3rd Street, Pompano Beach, FL 33060.
