Obituary of Carol Lou Ann Andrae

Carol Lou Ann Andrae 86 Years, 4 months of age, entered into glory peacefully and with grace on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at Seminole Nursing Pavilion, Seminole, Florida; after months of declining health. Carol was the wife of her beloved husband, the late William (Bill) Ernest Andrae. Carol was born on June 10, 1924, on a diary farm in Coon Valley, Wisconsin, to Louis and Rosanna Knudson. She was the youngest of four children, with two older brothers and an older sister. Carol was known by her middle name, Lou Ann, at home. She was a graduate of Viroqua High School, and after marriage, attended business school in St. Louis, Missouri. Like many farm girls of the 'greatest generation', she longed to leave the farm, and she served in the Army briefly at the end of WWII. During her service in Berlin just after the war, she met her husband, her dear Bill, in Berlin, Germany; and they were married by the mayor of Frankfurt , on March 19, 1946. Carol was a home maker, and had varied interests such as gardening, church activities, playing bridge, and was a Red Cross Volunteer. But writing poetry was her creative love. She chronicled her joys and sorrows of life, and her deep and abiding faith. She wrote mostly of family and faith. Carol was preceded by her parents, Louis and Rosanna, he brother Harold, sister Verona, and Brother Burton; and just in March of this year, her heart's desire, Bill. She is survived by her sons, Jon and Jay, and two grandchildren TJ and Pamela; and nieces, Ruth Ann Schmitt, Ainsley Lichtie, and Corrine Appleman. Services will be held at 1:00pm at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 10891 102nd Avenue North, Seminole, Florida. A Gathering of Friends will be at 12:30pm prior to the service. There will be a time of Fellowship afterwards. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
