Obituary of Taz Anthony Gulick

Taz Anthony Gulick, 50, Died Sunday, December 19th, 2010 at St. Petersburg General Hospital. Mr. Gulick was born in Orlando, and moved to Seminole in 1967. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart Elementary School, and Seminole High School in 1978. He was a letterman on the Seminole High varsity football team and held a number of weight-lifting records as a sophomore. Mr. Gulick was employed by the City of St. Petersburg for 21 years. He is survived by his parents, Philip and Barbara, a brother, Rex, two sisters, Kim and Kris, and his two children Jeremy and Jessica. From the moment he took to the waters of Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, Mr. Gulick was an avid boater and fisherman. Many weekends would find Mr. Gulick and his friends miles offshore, angling for large grouper and amberjack. He charted his favorite fishing holes and seldom returned to shore without limits. He learned proper seamanship from his father and put that to good use in a week-long, 500 mile round trip to the Florida Keys aboard the family boat. While in grade school, Taz and Rex began as apprentices in the construction business. By high school, they were hanging drywall, cutting tile and framing out porches. In a short time, Taz developed a reputation as a master craftsman, his finished work reflecting his warm, easy-going personality. Mr. Gulick was a devoted father to his children and eagerly answered a call for help from many a person in need. He will be missed by many. A memorial service will be held at 10 AM. Monday, December 27th at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 9111 90th Avenue North, Largo, FL 33777. Reception to follow at the Gulick's Home 8495 Magnolia Drive, east off Starkey Road. In lieu of flowers, donations for the children may be made to the family in care of Barbara Gulick, 8495 Magnolia Drive North, Largo, FL 33777.
