Obituary of Maj. Leonard Edward Motley

Motley, Leonard E. "Ed" 85, of Seminole, passed away on Dec. 14, 2011. Born in Des Moines, IA the son of Leonard Bill Motley and Ruth Nancy Wagner-Motley. Ed was a graduate of Hargrove Military Academy, Class of '44 and attended University of Delaware and Claremont Men's College. He entered the Air Force in 1944 and retired in 1970. He continues to belong to the Military Officer Association of America. Shortly after his retirement he was appointed by Gov. Peterson as a magistrate for the State of Delaware. He later resigned and subsequently appointed as executive secretary of the Standard Bread Development Board. In 1976 he assumed the position of Exec. VP of the Homebuilders Assoc. of Delaware and assumed the duty of lobbyist. In 1978 he moved to Pompano, FL and in 1982 to Seminole. He volunteered at Bay Pines VA. He was employed at Missing Links Driving Range for many years. He was a longtime attendee of Seminole 1st Baptist Church and Pathways Community Church. He is survived by sons Ed, Jr and his fiance Lisa and Frank and his wife Jane; 6 Grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law Barbara.
