Obituary of John Nicholas Dove

John Nicholas Dove, 87 passed at Sabal Palms Health Care Center with his family by his side on Friday, January 13,, 2012, following a brief illness. Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 16, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at E James Reese Funeral Home & Crematory, 6767 Seminole Boulevard, Seminole, Florida 33772. John was born June 23, 1924 in Chicago, IL, son of Nicholas Dove and Mamie Dove. John served in the United States Army Air Corps and received the American Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal of Honor and Victory Medal World War II. John was married to Dorothy Jackson in Carlsbad, New Mexico on March 10, 1945, and resided in Palatine, Illinois until moving to North Redington Beach, Florida in 1969. John retired from Sears Roebuck then started a small business called Sew N' Sew and later worked part time with the Pinellas County Public Defender's Office until his full retirement in 1992. He enjoyed spending time with his family boating and fishing, weekends at the Flea Market, tinkering in his garage, working with computers, and supporting the American Legion. The greatest joy in his life was his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who he loved so dearly. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. John is survived by four children, Gary (Lorie) Dove of Tampa, Florida, Mike (Carol) Dove of Dublin, Ohio, Diane Dove (Jim Bascom) of Largo, Florida and Deborah Dove of Cape Coral, Florida; nine grandchildren; David (Becky) Dove , Kathie (Jason) Knight, Marissa Shearer, Stephen (Jessica) Dove, Philip (Amber) Dove, Michael (Leah) Johnson, Nicholas Dove McGuire, Michelle Dove McGuire, Erica Inez Fernandez; and 11 great grandchildren, Rachael, Jackson, Taylor, Anthony, Samantha, Riley, Joshua, Millie, Sophia, Noah, and Aeva.
