He landed the fish aboard the F/V No Excuses, with his friend, Alan Bouffard. He was a licensed sea captain and has been described as "the best first-mate ever". Jack was predeceased by his father, Bob Evans and his mother, BJ Cassidy Evans. He is survived by his wife, Colleen (Boyle) Evans, stepson, Matt Dority of Gloucester, MA, stepdaughter, Sarah Hutchinson of Portland, ME, sister, Wendy Evans and her husband David Butt of Government Camp, OR, sister, Jane Faries and her husband Harry of Kingsport, TN, sister, Sandy Haber and her husband Joe of Portland, OR, brother, Charlie Evans and his wife Judy of Hooksett, NH, sister, Sue Nuthman and her husband Gerry of Hillsboro, OR, sister, Carol Evans and her husband Charlie Fleischman of Bethesda, MD, and several nieces and nephews. Jack was raised in Wilmington, MA, moved to Londonderry, NH, and graduated from Pinkerton Academy in 1970. He grew up on a poultry farm and was involved in 4-H. In the summers, he worked on Sandy Island YMCA family camp on Lake Winnipesaukee. Jack helped his dad tree farming and planting Christmas trees. He was involved with his brother, Charlie in real estate development for many years in Londonderry, NH. The family is planning an off shore memorial service in the Gulf and a service in New Hampshire, to be announced. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the SPCA in honor of Jack's faithful companion, Duke.
