Obituary of Dr. Paul R. Aughinbaugh

AUGHINBAUGH, Rev. Dr. Paul R., 87, went to his heavenly home on April 14, 2017. He was born in Tampa, Fl, on May 22, 1929 to the Rev. Fred and Ethel Aughinbaugh. Survivors include his wife, Harriet Maynard Aughinbaugh; two daughters, Joy (Joe) Vickers and Beth Aughinbaugh; and a sister, Mabel Malsbary. Also surviving are his blended family, Robert (Nancy) Maynard, Leigh (Ronald) Howes; son-in-law Wayne Sherman; his much beloved grandson, Joseph Vickers; and a combined family of seven grandchildren, ten precious great grandchildren, and beloved nieces and nephews. Paul delighted in the abundant love and happiness he found with the children and their babies. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Wayne Aughinbaugh; and a step-daughter, April Maynard Sherman. Paul graduated from Hillsboro High School and Wheaton College. He earned his Master of Arts degree from New York University and Doctorate of Ministry from Vanderbilt University. Dr. Paul was founding pastor of Faith Presbyterian Church of Seminole, Fl (now Faith Community Church, Evangelical Presbyterian) in 1960 and remained as senior pastor until retirement in 1991. He returned to serve as Parish Associate and Pastor Emeritus until his passing. He was founding president of Presbyterian Towers in St. Pete, and was president of Presbyterian Ministries, Inc, for 22 years. He taught at St. Petersburg Theological Seminary and was the last of the charter members of Seminole Rotary Club, founded in 1963. Paul had a great love for family and friends, for music, travel, golf and boating. But most of all, he loved his Lord and Savior and is forever alive with Him. A memorial service will be Wed April 19 at 11:00 AM at Faith Community Church of Seminole.
