Obituary of Arthur Parker

Parker, Arthur, 91, of Seminole, passed away April 11, 2010 at Bay Pines VA Hospital under the care of Hospice. Born in Chicago, June 12, 1918, moved to St. Petersburg in 1937. He enlisted in the Army in 1943 and served with the 101 Airborne Division, 377 Parachute Field Artillery. He made combat jumps in Normandy and Holland. Also, he was involved in the defense of Bastogne. During his service in Europe, Mr. Parker received the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Upon discharge, Mr. Parker joined the St. Petersburg Fire Department, where he retired. Additionally, he served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was active in Veteran's Affairs, was past Commander in John F. Kennedy Chapter of Military Order of Purple Heart and past Commander of V.F.W., Madeira Beach. He is survived by sons, Robert of Crystal River and Jack of St. Petersburg, granddaughter, Kelsey Parker and great granddaughter, Lainey Parker Allen, and long time companion, Gloria Macaluso of Seminole. Memorial Service at Reese Funeral Home, Seminole, on Friday, April 16th at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts payable to Bay Pines VAHCS, GPF 1086, mailed to Bay Pines VAHCS Hospice Care Unit 5C, P.O. Box 5005, Bay Pines, FL 33744.
