Gene was one of the finest members of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office I have ever met in my 34 years as a member of P.C.S.O. I was assigned to the Records & I.D. (Crime Scene) Division twice during my career: 1978 to 1980 as a sergeant, then 1987 to 1990 as a captain. Gene had all the admirable qualities one would hope a crime scene investigator had: great intelligence, trustworthiness, methodical work ethic, superb maturity, reliability, hard worker, informal leadership authority, teammate, I could go on. Gene became one of our top crime scene investigators and took part in the investigation of many major cases, including high-profile homicides. My background did not involve grass-roots crime scene investigations, so I often sought Gene's wisdom for advice. Sadly, I learned of Gene's passing just a few days ago, and I am including a 1978 group photo of our division. Gene is circled, in the back row. P.C.S.O. lost one of its finest former members when Gene passed. May God bless Gene's family and friends.
