These are the things I remember about Dad:
- Dad told me that if I planted watermelon seeds in the front yard of our Rosedale apartment, the next day we'd get watermelons. And we did! Dad buried watermelons that night so in the morning I would see them.
- Tap dancing to Mickey Mouse's birthday song at the Worlds Fair in 1965 - Dad taking pictures.
- Father-Daughter dances at Wheeler Avenue Elementary School.
- Singing "We're on the upward trail" while driving to Point Lookout beach.
- Teaching me how to drive. That was nerve-racking!
- Dad's nickname for me, those who know - it starts with a "q".
- Taking me and my friends to the Playboy Bunny Club in the City.
- Dad visiting Joann and I.
- The South Street Seaport.
- Christmas in Wake Forest and Cornelius.
- Walks on the Gulf everyday at 7:30a holding hands and talking about family, Maderia Beach happenings, and architecture.
- The two songs we always danced to.
- The firefighter dance in Charlotte.
- Myrtle Beach where I would meet Dad and other firefighters - and go to Pawley Island for some really good food!
- 50th wedding anniversary, fun all around.
- The trip to Florida 3 years later with my boys, that was a wonderful visit.
These are just a few highlighted memories I have of you Dad - Love Donna

Ken was such a gentleman and a man with a wonderful smile and laugh. We got to know Ken and Gerry when we were building our house on Redington Beach in 1995. He would come by to take pictures of it as it was being built. When we moved in he would put our paper in front of our door during his daily morning run. Now every time I go out to pick up the paper I think of Ken. From knowing him we found out some of the wonderful things he did to help New York City during the 9/11 tragedy and how it changed him.
We will miss him.
May the Lord be with the family during this difficult time.
God Bless
Rob and Diane Klingel
